The Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation is the highest professional designation awarded to Realtors in the residential sales field. Less than 4% of all Realtors hold the CRS designation. To earn the CRS designation, Realtors must complete additional education requirements and meet high sales volumes requirements. The sales volume requirement is to ensure that they not only have the “book” knowledge to successfully work with buyers and sellers, but that they also have the real world knowledge that can only be gained by working on numerous real estate transactions. With this designation is also a high emphasis on ethics and abiding by the National Association of Realtors® Code of Ethics. A CRS is trained to minimize financial risks and legal risks associated with buying or selling a home.
